James Bantone

James Bantone

Born in Geneva, 1992.
Lives and works in Zurich.

James Bantone is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is an ongoing exploration of mimesis and mimetic desire through uncanny reproductions. Bantone seeks to address the verbal, physical and gestural codes of contemporary culture as they pertain to racial, sexual and gender norms and stereotypes. His work, which often includes large scale installation, photography and video, questions notions of identity and belonging.

His work has been exhibited at Karma International, Zurich, Cordova, Barcelona, Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, Swiss Institute, New York, Coalmine, Winterthur, Kunsthalle Fribourg and UV Estudios, Buenos Aires.

James Bantone received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art & Media-Video from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2019 and completed the Work. Master Contemporary Artistic Practices at Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD) in 2021.

James Bantone is represented by Karma International, Zurich.
